About 65% of the full-time students at Smurfit come from overseas, and around 75% have worked outside their home country prior to joining the MBA program. In the summer term, students can choose to do an internship, take electives on campus, or study at either the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore or the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai.
The students at Smurfit come from diverse professional backgrounds; including accounting, sales, marketing, law, pharmaceuticals, software development, and structural engineering. UCD's MBA program recruits 65% of students from outside of Ireland, with an average of 30 years at matriculation.
UCD is one of only nine schools worldwide to hold the Triple Crown of Accreditation, having been awarded AACSB accreditation from the US-based AACSB International, EQUIS accreditation from the Brussels-based EFMB, and AMBA accreditation from the Association of MBAs.
The average GMAT score in recent years has been around 620.
All applicants are required to have an interview as part of the admissions process; international students can take part in the interview via telephone or Skype.
Two professional recommendations are required of all applicants.
