With campuses in France and Singapore, the culturally rich MBA program offered at INSEAD unites business minds from over seventy countries. INSEAD also established an alliance with Wharton in 2004. The cooperation between the two business schools has grown stronger and increased innovation over each passing year.
The curriculum at INSEAD tends to be General Management focused, and typically takes about a year to complete. The electives offered are both advanced and relevant to current climates. Some recent additions include Developing Networks, Advertising & Social Media Strategy, and Entrepreneurial Strategies for Emerging Markets.
With its diverse campuses and emphasis on global affairs, it is understandable and beneficial that the program commits its students to knowing two languages upon arrival and being proficient in three by graduation.
Both the Fontainebleau and Singapore campuses are structured the same. Students who wish to switch campuses midway through the program are most often accommodated. Additionally, students can study at Wharton for one semester and have free access to all Wharton classes and resources.
This well-rounded cultural education comes from the fact that no one nationality represents more than 10% of the student body. In addition, less than half of the students come from Western countries, so approaches to problem solving and collaboration are most provocative.
To be competitive, a candidate should score at least in the 70-75th percentile on both portions of the GMAT.
Applicants who successfully pass the initial screening process by the Admissions Committee are invited to two interviews conducted by INSEAD MBA alumni in their country of residence. The interviews usually revolve around a candidate's fit for the INSEAD experience, as well as their passion for an international business career.
Two letters of recommendation are requited and should provide information about the applicant's demonstrated leadership and managerial potential. For this reason, it is preferred that at least one recommendation comes from the workplace (a current supervisor or manager is usually a good choice). The other recommendation may also be from someone who has had a chance to evaluate you in a professional setting (i.e. a client, a former supervisor, or a colleague from a community service organization or extracurricular activity).
Work experience There are typically five required essays and one optional essay. The intention of the essays is to reveal each applicant's personal history, creativity and ability. High quality essays are essential for a successful application.
